Earworm....just shoot me...please, just shoot me
Don't get me wrong. I like the B-52's just as much as the nexy guy. However, hearing those endless Ray Manzarek-like organ riffs and the choruses of "Rock Lobster" playing ad infinitum in my empty skull is enough to drive ya batty.
Every so often I pay attention to the song, then I'm reminiscing about the early 80's and mentally roller-skating at the local rink.
*sigh*

80's music can be fun. Myself, I listened to "Come On Eileen" and "Relax" at very loud volumes all the way into work today.
And I find I'm in a very good mood because of it . . .
I know...but that still doesn't help me.
*cringe*
"Rock L-[warble]OH[/warble]-obster..."
Gosh but you're OLD. Good thing I used to dj the "retro" stuff so at least I know which song you're talking about...
...but not enough for it to stick in my ear!
and you ROLLERBLADE at the roller-rink! Rollerskates are dangerous! ;)
I was a great rollerskater. Could do dance moves and everything...
Blading is a deadly form of sadomaschostic torture.
You couldn't pay me to get on them.
Ever.
*grin*
I love how faithful people are to their "wheeled shoe-like device" of origin. In france I was part of a "roller" association, and rollerskate or rollerblade so long as you lived on wheels you could join up and participate in marathons and come to the dance rinks and everything.
It's crazy how folks who learn to balance on one device have such a hard time on the other. Even the real serious stuntsmen -- I had to real clown friends who could do ANYTHING on rollerskates, to the point where you were sure their ankles were broken, but put them on rollerblades and they were sledding on their bums.
I, of course, am entirely the opposite. Put me on blades and I'll see you in the morning. Put me on rollerskates and help me back to my crutches.
did you ever watch "muppets tonight"? it was on...oh, about ten years ago. (egads- have i really been out of high school that long? *shudders*)
anyway, they did a bit with "rock lobster" that was just priceless....
