Happy Birthday, Nation of mine...

Happy Canada Day!!

Even though the act of Confederation (Officially known as "The British North America Act") happened 138 years ago today, we celebrate a long, rich and incredibly diverse history that spans the better part of a millenium (thank you, Leif Ericsson for getting itchy feet to see what lay beyond Iceland and Greenland.)

Oh, to be at the Party on The Hill now that July 1 is here.

This day is also a tribute to the members of The Royal Newfoundland Regiment, as they pause to remember the battle at Beaumont-Hamel. Lest We Forget.

*Oh Canada.

Our home and native land.

True patriot love...*

Sorry, everytime I see the Mapleleaf I break into song.

Okay Mossy. Hit the link for the Beaumont regiment. Room got a bit dusty, if you know what I mean.

Canada seems wonderful, and the picture of the assembly building (or parliament? Sorry, forgot) in Ottowa truly is absolutely beautiful.

And, frankly, New England seems a lot more in step with Canada then the rest of the nation (which my office mates call "Jesusland"). Maybe we should succede.

no, kal- only south carolina gets to secede. i heard a rumor awhile back that our state legislature votes whether or not to secede on a yearly basis.

i'm so glad i'm not a native.
