D+61

Omaha, Utah, Gold, Sword, and Juno.

Words never to be forgotten, nor the sacrifices made in Normandy, 61 years ago today.

"They shall not grow old, as we who are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun, and in the morning,
We will remember them."

Lest we forget...

Cool fact.

A very close friend of the family designed the ropes used to hold the boats to shore during the landing. He fought hard to use Manilla (the stuff that makes the envelopes), but the americans wanted to use steel, and did. The american ones broke, the Manila held strong.
